Day 8

8. May 2000, Rest day in Istanbul

We love Istanbul. In the summer, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. With its abundance of historic sites, among them: the Topkapi palace, the Golden Horn, the beautiful Ayasofya and Blue Mosque, the EyŸp Mosque, the district of Pera, the Galata Tower, and the breathtaking Bosphorus straits with its picturesque houses, the Dolmabahce Palace and the city walls visitors can discover this amazing city for weeks. There is also a great variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs, many of them in the open air in summer. Here you can meet people of all walks of life from all over the world. As we have spent the last four decades going to Istanbul or Turkey every summer and Sami was even born in Istanbul, Team Busch uses the day to relax and organize the rest of the trip. We did not go sightseeing so unfortunately we have not got any photographs for the day. But Istanbul is certainly a wonderful city to visit. There are many unique and varied impressions to gain and people are very hospitable.
